Description
RCS Advanced Course – Chat Sessions A to Z. This course is a continuation of the RCS introductory course and it deals with the examination of chats and chat groups in RCS. The main goal of this course is for students to gain a comprehensive understanding of how to set up a chat or chat group using signaling and flow control, and how to create a path for messages to pass between different users.
What you will learn
- A thorough understanding of all functional areas required by GSMA guidelines to set up an RCS chat session.
- Ability to describe RCS client functions, farm server (which is part of all session control and media transport layer setup)
- Understanding the QoS (Quality of Service) mechanism embedded in the media path and data being sent and received through the MSRP protocol.
- Independent messaging review as defined in the RCS guidelines is an alternative to chat sessions but still allows messages to be sent over IP.
- Connect all functional blocks in call flow diagrams to set up a one-to-one chat session and show how SIP messages set MSRP-based routing.
- Investigating some alternative scenarios where the chat session reverts to legacy SMS/MMS when some RCS prerequisites are not met.
- Extending one-to-one chat session concepts to understand how to create a one-to-N group chat session.
- Understand how to add or remove members of a chat group after it is created.
This course is suitable for people who
- are involved in 4G and 5G technology projects and need to know how to transfer text and files between different subscribers using messaging technology.
- Are involved in RCS projects in an engineering or project management role and want to gain more insight into RCS technology and specifically how chat sessions work. This course will give you that insight.
