PALO ALTO PANORAMA ESSENTIALS COURSE. This course provides an in-depth, yet simple, review of the Palo Alto Panorama machine groups and formats, along with real-world examples.
Introduction to Palo Alto Panorama: In this section, you will gain a general understanding of the Palo Alto Panorama architecture and how it helps you manage Palo Alto Networks firewall deployments.
Palo Alto Panorama Templates: You use templates and template stacks to configure settings that allow firewalls to operate on a network. Templates are the basic building blocks used to configure the network and device tabs in Panorama™. You can use templates to define interface and zone configurations, manage server profiles for logging and syslog access, or define VPN configurations. Template stacks allow you to layer multiple templates to create a composite configuration. Template stacks simplify management by allowing you to define a common base configuration for all devices connected to the template stack and by allowing you to layer templates to create a hybrid configuration. This allows you to define templates with position- or function-specific settings, and then sort the templates in descending order of priority so that firewalls inherit the settings based on the order of the templates in the stack.
Palo Alto Panorama Device Groups: Device groups include firewalls and virtual systems that you want to manage as a group, such as firewalls that manage a group of separate branches or departments within a company. Palo Alto Panorama treats these groups as separate entities when applying policies. Firewalls can only belong to one device group, but because virtual systems in Palo Alto Panorama are distinct entities, you can assign virtual systems to different device groups within a firewall.
