Houdini KineFX Rig Packaging course. Creating a rig is not only limited to building mechanisms, but also requires building user interfaces and various tools. In this course, we will work with a KineFX rig in Houdini, but we will not focus on building the rig itself. Instead, we’ll focus on building the UI for the rig, distributing the rig, and creating tools to make animation easier. We’ll be working with a basic anthropomorphic rig that’s already been built. We will convert this rig from a grid to a basic HDA, which will allow animation with a single node. We will also explore several methods of distribution. A rig is not a stand-alone element, as we will often need tools to make animation easier. These tools will include channel groups, tools for easier keyframing of parameters, as well as zero and default modes. Also, we will create a pose library that will allow us to store character poses. We will create these with HDA UIs as well as with custom Python panels. Selecting characters can also be made easier with character selectors, and we’ll do this with both Houdini’s default character selector and a custom Python panel.
