ART DIRECTING EXPLOSIONS USING AXIOM IN HOUDINI course. In this 7.5-hour course, Ganesh Lakshmigan, CTO of Special Effects at Weta FX, shows you how to simulate an explosion professionally in Houdini using Axiom, Theory Accelerated’s GPU-accelerated volumetric fluid solver. Ganesh will teach you all the steps of the work, from source analysis to the final composite. He shows you how to use Axiom Solver (version 3.1 or higher) in Houdini 20 to create all the fire and smoke simulations. It also teaches you professional tricks to achieve a realistic simulation, including accurate shading and lighting.
In this course, Solaris/Karma XPU is used for shading, lighting and scene rendering. Ganesh shows you how to use the latest Karma volume shader and take advantage of the latest features to achieve realistic volume renderings. In the final step of this course, you will get to know the composite of all rendered elements in Nuke. During this course, you’ll learn SOP tricks for creating emitters and how to break down simulations into art-directable elements. GPU-based Axiom Solver with Karma XPU is a professional solution for faster iterations in both simulation and rendering.
