Integrating hardware with AfterShoot AI can significantly enhance the photo culling process. In one of my earlier videos, I explored the use of a hardware controller to streamline this task. I still use a model from a company called 8BitDo, and I upgraded to their newer version. These controllers are quite affordable, available for around $20 on Amazon.
Using a hardware controller, really, really helps me with culling.
The primary advantage of using a hardware controller is the physical flexibility it offers. It allows me to have a more relaxed posture, away from the computer, and provides an alternative to the constant use of a keyboard. This change in hand position can be a welcome relief during long editing sessions!

Workflow and Cache Management
Managing workflow and app cache is crucial for maintaining efficiency and performance on your computer. I regularly clean out (literally just delete the Aftershoot Projects folder) my aftershoot cache, because it can start to balloon and get a little bit large.

This practice is essential to prevent the cache from becoming excessively large, which can hinder performance for everything on your machine.
Photo Session and Camera Insights
In a recent photo session, I had the opportunity to explore the capabilities of the new Canon R1 camera. This session was particularly special as it was a gift for Mel’s 40th birthday, arranged by her husband. We captured a variety of shots, from classic balloon images below to more creative compositions, all using the Canon R1.
