For this month’s workshop, we wanted to create an image that played on the notions of retro-futuristic technology, so what better choice than the humble vacuum cleaner? Powered vacuum cleaners have been around for more than a 100 years and yet, the technology behind them is constantly improving. Our goal was to create a workshop image that featured an advanced technology product (Dyson vacuums have a reputation for innovation) with lighting that harkened back to the halcyon days of the retro-futuristic 1960s, when “spacey” themes were all the rage.

Your goal is to interpret this theme by creating your own retro-futuristic advertising-style product shot. You can certainly use a vacuum cleaner, but feel free to experiment and push your creative limits! We’re excited to see what you come up with.
